as I work...

...I'm doing my very best to be focused on this lit review, so I decided to take a few minutes to do a quick post. Read, review; read, review. This is all going to pay off in the end, I know it.

In other news, the standoff in WI seems to be simmering down a bit, since they voted this last week to pass the budget bill. There was a big rally yesterday at the capitol, but I think it was more of a chance for the 14 senators who fled to IL to trumpet themselves. Just seems to be a mockery of the democratic process to me...

Travel news tidbit: airlines considering charging for carry-on's? This story is courtesy of USA Today:

Will leisure carrier Allegiant Air become the second U.S. airline to charge passengers to stow carry-on bags in its overhead bins?

"We definitely think that (idea) has a lot of merit, and we're studying it," Allegiant President Andrew Levy says in a wide-ranging Q&A with In Business Las Vegas, a publication affiliated with the Las Vegas Sun.

"I expect us to move in that direction," Levy says.

Currently, Spirit Airlines is the only other U.S. carrier to charge customers for placing a bag in its carry-on bins. Spirit's fee costs as much as $45 each way.

If Allegiant decides to add such a fee, it would probably do so by this summer, the Las Vegas Sun reports in a follow-up to the Q&A.

In fact, Levy suggests some passengers might even welcome a carry-on fee.

"The reality is that because we charge for checked bags, there are fewer checked bags, and more people are bringing things into the cabin," Levy is quoted as saying by the Sun. "That typically ends up delaying flights and inconveniencing a lot of our customers."
